LTC Marion J. White, U.S. Army (Ret.), 88, of Gray, TN passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2026. Marion was a native of Johnson City, TN and was a member of Sullivan Baptist Church, Kingsport, TN. He graduated from Science Hill High School and received a BS degree and a MA degree from East Tennessee State University. Marion served as LT Colonel with the US Army. He completed command and general staff college in 1975 and was a graduate of the US Army War College in 1985. He was a Commander of the 2nd Squadron of the 278th Armored Calvary Regiment, Kingsport, TN from 1981- 1987 and was Operations Officer and Assistant Commandant of the Tennessee Military Academy from 1987 – 1989. Marion was also president of the Tennessee Army National Guard Officers Association from 1988-1990. He was a past president of the Kingsport Area Safety Council and past President of the Lion’s Club of Kingsport. Marion retired from Tennessee Eastman Company in 1997.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Stella White.

Marion is survived by his devoted wife of 41 years, Vivian L. White; son, Bob White; daughters, Genae Tolley and Jennifer Bogni (Fabio); grandchildren, Letecia Dawn and Alessandra Bogni; sisters, Sharon Bowles (Dr. Richard) and Cherie Lindsey (Larry); along with many dear friends and extended family.

A private entombment service will be conducted at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
